Lubricating pins by pushing the point into a bar of Ivory soap or other bar soap before using helps any pin slide, so do lubricate your pins!  Tip: keep the paper on the soap bar or wrap it in thin woven fabric to keep the soap from drying out.

We are no longer able to offer pins for free. They are very hard to get these days, but still they are not very expensive. We encourage you to try pinning. Fastening prefolds keeps things all together.

  • Cloth-eez Prefold Diapers,
  • Cloth-eez Flat Birdseye Diapers or Muslin Diapers and/or
  • Workhorse no-closure diapers.

LEARN how to use diaper pins.

As with any item you use on your baby, please inspect your pins upon arrival and inspect them before each use, just like you do for snaps on diaper covers and snaps on clothing and such. Never let pins go through the wash.

It is possible to sharpen pins.

I rubbed the point of each pin over a bar of soap before the first use and they slid through the fabric like butter. The locking head clicks shut and hasn't popped open once, even on a wiggly toddler.

The locking mechanism actually stays shut, which was my main worry after losing pins with the plain kind. I rubbed the tips on a bar of soap like the instructions say and they glide through the fabric so much easier.

I've been cloth diapering for years and these actually stay locked instead of popping open like my old ones. The soap tip in the description is real—a quick jab into a bar of Ivory and they glide right through the fabric. Wish I'd bought these sooner.
